Health & Injury Disclaimer

This platform provides teaching reference material. It is not medical advice.

This is not medical advice

Everything on this platform — class plans, pose instructions, hold times, sequencing guidance, dharma talks and annotations — is instructional reference material written by yoga teachers for yoga teachers. None of it is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and none of it should be treated as a substitute for care from a qualified healthcare professional.

Nobody who writes content here is acting as your physician, physiotherapist or clinician, and using this platform does not create a practitioner-client relationship of any kind.

If you are teaching

You are responsible for the safety of the people in your room. A sequence you find here is a starting point that another teacher found useful with their students — it carries no assessment of yours.

  • Adapt anything you teach to the bodies actually in front of you.
  • Teach within the scope of your training and certification.
  • Ask students about injuries, pregnancy and medical conditions before class, and adjust accordingly.
  • Offer modifications and make it plain that they are equally valid.
  • Do not use a plan from this platform to teach a population you are not trained to work with.

Content published here is not reviewed for medical safety, and its presence on the platform is not an endorsement that it is appropriate for any particular student.

If you are practising yourself

Consult a doctor before beginning any new physical practice, particularly if you are pregnant, recovering from injury or surgery, or managing a medical condition.

Stop if something hurts. Yin yoga in particular asks you to stay in shapes for long periods, and the line between a useful sensation and a harmful one is yours alone to judge from inside your own body. Nothing published here can make that judgement for you.

Content is contributed by other users

Much of the community library is written by other subscribers. We do not verify their qualifications, review their sequences for safety, or check the accuracy of what they have written.

Apply the same judgement you would to a sequence a colleague handed you at a workshop: useful, worth considering, and yours to evaluate before you teach it.

Assumption of risk

Physical practice carries a risk of injury. By using this platform — whether to teach or to practise — you accept that risk, and you accept responsibility for how you apply what you find here.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Yin Sequencing Studio and its contributors are not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from the use of material published on this platform.

In an emergency

If you or a student is injured, seek medical attention. Do not use this platform as a source of guidance in an emergency.
